cold coffee
What is Cold Extraction?
A slow and cold brew
Cold extraction refers to brewing coffee with cold water, allowing the flavours to develop gradually over time.
Smooth flavour profile
Extracting at lower temperatures produces a light and smoother flavour profile, reducing acidic notes.
Cold coffee in under 3 minutes
While cold extraction requires different techniques and tools, other methods demand patience, taking hours or even a full day.

Cold Espresso serves up bold flavours, perfect for a quick boost, while Cold Brew invites you to enjoy its smooth, mellow taste, crafted over time. Freshly roasted beans elevate both, but each brings a different vibe to your coffee ritual!
Frequently asked questions
What is cold brew coffee?
Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coarsely ground coffee in cold or room-temperature water for 12–24 hours. The result is a smooth, flavourful, and less acidic coffee that’s perfect for enjoying over ice or as a base for creative coffee drinks.
What is cold espresso?
Cold espresso is brewed like traditional espresso shots, but extracted purely with cold water to accent fruity flavours and minimise bitterness.
How is cold brew different from iced coffee?
Iced coffee is typically brewed hot and then cooled down, while cold brew is brewed cold from the start. This process creates a less bitter, naturally sweeter taste that’s often more versatile for customisation.
Why should I make cold brew at home?
Save money: Skip the expensive café visits and enjoy premium cold brew from the comfort of your home.
Customise your brew: Control strength, flavour, and add-ins to create the perfect cup.
Convenience: Brew a batch in advance and have coffee ready when you are.
How do Sage’s espresso machines make cold brew?
Our espresso machine is optimised for both hot and cold brewing. Using advanced technology, using fine espresso grinds and pressure profiles ideal for cold brew, it replicates the steeping process of traditional cold brew in a fraction of the time, delivering a delicious, cold brew that’s ready in minutes.
Can I use any coffee beans for cold brew?
Yes, but medium to light roasts are most commonly used for cold brew as they tend to bring out a fresh, fruity and smooth flavour profile. Try medium roasts for a cold espresso. When it comes to beans, fresh is best, so make sure to use a high quality coffee grinder and look for a roasted on date and aim for 5-30 days out from roast. However, our espresso machine works well with any roast, allowing you to experiment with flavour profiles.
What other drinks can I make with cold-extracted coffees?
Cold brewed coffees are incredibly versatile! Use cold espresso as a base for:
Iced lattes
Coffee mocktails/cocktails
Or cold brew to create..
Cold brew tonics
Nitro-style cold brew
Pair it with milk, syrups, or sparkling water to create your own signature drink.
